The Marine 5™ (PS500*) is your industry leader MED approved solution to multiple gas detection. Designed by our customers, this robust and accurate gas detector provides unrivalled protection in confined spaces, able to offer exotic gas detection.
Features
(*name provided by manufacturer)
The detector allows you to test for the standard four gases (Flam, H2, CO, and O2), while a dual sensor also enables you to switch on a test for further bespoke gas. Testing up to five gases, the Marine 5™ brings improved safety and efficiency on-board while reducing operating costs.
The Marine 5™ can be tailored to detect up to five gases with its toxic and catalytic sensors, photo ionisation detectors, and infrared capabilities. “Plug and Play” option allows the customer to “plug in” a new board with a different gas range. The Marine 5™ is particularly useful in noisy environments, featuring a very loud (95dBA) penetrating and distinctive audible alarm together with high visibility large area visual alarm. Pump, diffusion or both together, allowing pumped sample for pre-entry checking and diffusion in confined space working, thus maximising battery life. A robust, moulded, rubberised casing guaranteeing HiImpact resistance, the Marine 5™ can be used in the most demanding industrial environments.

You can change the Marine 5 gas detection profile instantly using its “Plug-and-Play” smart sensor technology. Simply insert a new sensor and sensor board into the unit to reconfigure it for different hazards – such as CO2, Benzene, or VOCs – without needing to return the device to the factory or perform complex servicing.
Yes, the Marine 5 is fully MED approved, alongside ATEX, IECEx, and UL 913 certifications. This global compliance ensures the device meets all the international maritime regulations for monitoring standard gases (LEL, H2S, CO, O2) and exotic threats like SO2 and Chlorine in harsh engine–room or deck environments.
Yes. The Marine 5 can be configured with a specialised Infrared (IR) Sensor specifically for CO2. IR Sensors are highly resistant to poisoning and deliver precision monitoring in inert atmospheres where other sensors fail.
The Marine 5 features dual-mode functionality for complete confined space safety. Use Pump Mode with tubing and a probe to draw samples for pre-entry testing at all levels, then switch to Diffusion Mode once inside to monitor the user’s breathing zone while maximising battery life during extended shifts.
Yes. The Marine 5 is specifically engineered to meet the regulations such as the safety standard established by IMO Resolution MSC.581(110), which officially replaced resolution A.1050(27) in December 2025. It provides precise ppm (parts per million) monitoring for Carbon Dioxide (CO2) that is now a legal requirement for vessels carrying hazardous or oxygen-depleting cargoes.
