The Marine Tankscape™ (Shipsurveyor*) is versatile yet simple to use. It offers reliable Zone 1 atmosphere monitoring using infrared technology to detect up to 4 gases simultaneously. It was designed after extensive consultation with shipowners, ship managers, and shipping personnel. The result is a range of 7 instruments dedicated to the marine market.
Features;
(*name provided by manufacturer)
The feature-rich range of instruments are suitable for all marine applications including confined space monitoring, cargo monitoring and inerting. 5 gases can be simultaneously measured and displayed. The hydrocarbon range, which utilises the latest infrared technology, can be calibrated with butane, propane or methane. The Marine Tankscape™ comes complete with an impressive suite of application software. The bespoke software allows on-board calibration and the ability to print tamper-proof calibration certificates. It comes with a built-in pump that is able to draw a sample from 30m – other solutions require a pump to be purchased as an add on.

Standard catalytic LEL sensors require oxygen to operate, making them ineffective in inert tanks. The Marine Tankscape utilises infrared (IR) technology to accurately detect hydrocarbons in oxygen-depleted or inert atmospheres. This ensures reliable monitoring during tank cleaning, inerting, and gas-freeing operations where catalytic sensors cannot function.
Yes. The Marine Tankscape is MED (Marine Equipment Directive) approved and “Wheel Marked” (Module B&E). It also carries ATEX and IECEx Zone 1 certification, meeting international regulations for cargo tank monitoring, pre-entry testing, and confined space safety on oil and gas tankers.
The instrument features a high-flow integral pump with a flow-fail sensor and hydrophobic filter protection. This high flow rate reduces sampling times for deep tanks and long trunk-and-ladder arrangements, allowing for faster, more efficient gas-freeing verification without compromising sensor safety.
Yes. The Tankscape includes bespoke management software that allows for on-board, tamper-proof certificate printing. The software also features enhanced data logging with tank identification, enabling officers to upload logged gas readings and locations to a PC for simplified analysis and Port State Control audit readiness.
