The Seatrade Awards: Finalists in 2 categories!

The Seatrade Awards recognise the success, ambition and innovation that inspires the future of the industry and Martek’s crew welfare solutions iVital™ and Lifeforce AED have been shortlisted in the Safety at Sea and Investment in People categories!

Safety at Sea Awards: Best Safety Product/Service of the Year

What’s more, it’s just been announced that iVital™ has also been shortlisted for a Safety at Sea Award as Best Safety Product/Service of the Year! iVital™ fought off the competition to make it to the finals, as the judges felt that the innovative and original development has the potential to dramatically improve safety on board and on shore.

Lifeforce AED: The first automatic marine industry defibrillator

Lifeforce AED

Lifeforce AED is a life saver, literally. It’s the world’s first automatic marine industry defibrillator. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) kills over 3 million people every year, making it the world’s leading cause of death. SCA can affect anyone, anywhere, at any time and a victim’s only chance of survival is rapid defibrillation.

Martek Marine is on the NHS procurement framework for the whole of the UK, as well as being recommended supplier to Ambulance Service programs for automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Using this experience, combined with a background in disruptive technology for the marine industry, crew welfare solution Lifeforce AED was born and is the only automatic defibrillator to be Type Approved by Germanischer Lloyd (GL).

The highest number of award entries to date!

This year’s Seatrade Awards have attracted the highest number of entries since their launch in 1989 and competition is tough, but the Martek team, having made it to the shortlist, are looking forward to the winners being announced on 30 June at Grosvenor House, London. The Safety at Sea Awards shortlist party takes place this week in Oslo, in line with leading maritime event Nor-Shipping, with the awards ceremony taking place this September in London.
