We have a fantastic team of people here at Martek Marine and we would like to introduce everyone to you. The ‘Getting to know the Martek team’ series has been created so that you can put a face to the name and get to know us better.

We thought we would start with our Customer Experience Manager Jami Beech and ask him a few questions…

HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED AT MARTEK MARINE?

I started at Martek on 27^th June 2011. I’m well into my 6^th year!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT MARTEK?

The opportunities I have been given to develop in 5 years, the daily challenges and the fun we have. The list is endless. Another thing is how we do not compromise on the people we employ. Our culture and values ensures we only employ capable and talented people with great potential, who are yet down to earth and such a laugh that life at work is fun. You know if someone is employed by Martek Marine, you have a team member who is bought into what we stand for and is not going to take the job for granted.

DESCRIBE AN AVERAGE DAY IN THE OFFICE?

Without sounding too cliché, very challenging, fun, varied, and hectic!

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT AT MARTEK?

Being empowered to lead a team and be a part of the Leadership team, I’m very humbled and lucky to be a part of such a great team of hardworking, committed people who are both my friends and mentors at the same time. I am proud of so many individual ‘wins’ in every position I’ve held at Martek that I couldn’t name just one. It has been a very rewarding 5 years+ of which myself and also my family are very proud of. My friends and family have a keen interest in my work life and development and find the whole industry very interesting, particularly my Grandma who helped me get the job in the first place all those years ago! I am proud to be a part of the whole Martek journey.

WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE?

My main interests are football and socialising (which is a more polite way of saying boozing), and walking my 2 dogs Davey Boy and Bonnie. I have a very active social life and love spending time with friends and family. I enjoy having a weekly flutter on a football accumulator at the weekend, before crying into a pint of Strongbow at how much I could have won if my beloved Barnsley FC had not let me down for 7^th straight week.

WHAT ARE YOU KNOWN FOR?

I like to think I’m known for being the guy that my peers can rely on, or at least appreciate that I will always do my best for them no matter what! I think what I am actually known for is loving a laugh, being committed to the job and the company values, and of course loving a drink or 10!

WHAT WAS THE LAST GIFT YOU GAVE SOMEONE?

I had a conversation with a customer about servicing 4 vessels in the Buenos Aires area. He told me he’d just bought a French Bulldog puppy that was a nightmare to train. I wanted to send him something so I sent him a couple of breed specific dog training books including ‘dog training for dummies’ which we had a laugh about afterwards!
