LiquiLab Ballast Water Testing helps you comply with the IMO Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention, protecting marine ecosystems while keeping your vessel in line with international regulations.
Our system allows you to verify your treatment system’s performance, whether it uses UV, electro-chlorination, or other biocides, by providing indicative testing for critical D-2 parameters.
Benefits;
Indicative Testing That Protects Your Vessel and the Environment
LiquiLab provides clear, indicative testing for the following critical D-2 parameters. From detecting harmful microbes to assessing overall bacterial quality and checking residual treatment chemicals, these tests ensure your ballast water is safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible.

Indicator Microbes
Toxicogenic Vibrio Cholerae,
Escherichia Coli, Intestinal
Enterococci

Total Bacteria Count
To assess the overall
microbiological quality
of the treated water.

Residual Biocides
To ensure chemicals
used in treatment are at safe
levels before discharge.

The IMO Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention is an international regulation designed to prevent the spread of invasive aquatic species through ballast water discharge. Ballast water testing is required to prove your treatment system meets the D-2 performance standard before discharge.
The LiquiLab ballast water test kit provides indicative testing for key BWM Convention parameters, including indicator microbes (E. coli, Vibrio cholerae, and intestinal enterococci), total bacteria count, and residual biocides.
Under the BWM Convention, vessels must demonstrate that treated ballast water meets the D-2 discharge standard. LiquiLab simplifies this process by giving crews digital, verifiable data that can be presented during inspections.
LiquiLab automates data logging, eliminating manual interpretation errors. Results are instantly uploaded to the cloud, allowing fleet managers to view compliance data remotely.
