Pioneer Ship Management
Pioneer Ship Management chose Evolution EMS™ because we were interested in the fuel savings opportunities open to us from fitting the Evolution EMS™ system. We undertook a trial in the North Sea where we used Evolution EMS™ to monitor the NOx emissions from the main engine on-board our crude oil tanker Atlantic Galaxy, which allowed us to tune the main engine to maximise its performance and reduce its fuel consumption. Following the successful trial, we expanded the system to also include NOx monitoring of the auxiliary engines, as an expression of our environmental commitment.
Peter Dohle Schiffahrts
Peter Dohle Schiffahrts and Martek Marine undertook a detailed programme of trials to establish the scope of fuel savings achievable on-board MV Copiapo through engine optimisation using the Evolution EMS™ - Emissions Monitoring System. The equipment was installed, in-passage by the Martek service team with assistance of the ships engineers. The installation did not affect the vessels operation. Various trials were carried out on the main engine (Wartsila 10RTA96-C) to measure NOx/CO2 and F.O consumption. The trials concluded that fuel savings in the range 0.6% - 2.1% were delivered. The main engine was monitored for Specific NOx emissions throughout the trials and was proven to be in compliance with the limits in the NOx Technical Code both before and after each trial.
Metrostar Management Corp
The Evolution EMS™ was professionally installed in-passage aboard MT Crudestar without any detrimental effect on the operation of the vessel. The system comprised of the fully Type Approved Evolution EMS™ System including the gas sampling equipment, engine performance/ambient correction sensors and Approved NOx/CO2/SOx calculation software as required by the legislation. The system proved accurate and reliable for NOx / CO2 monitoring in compliance with MARPOL Annex VI Regulation 13 and The NOx Technical Code. By monitoring NOx & CO2 emissions the engine was optimised to achieve audited fuel savings in the region of 2.45%. By fitting the Evolution EMS™ system, we are freed from the restrictions imposed by the onerous, disruptive and risky Parameter Check Survey compliance method leaving us free to source our engine spare parts in the open market at major cost saving to OEM parts. The SOx monitoring feature provided reliable monitoring delivering accurate reporting of the sulphur emissions in line with Regulation 14(4). Evolution EMS™ allows Metrostar to conform with Best Practice Environmental Policy. Due to the complete success of the trial we have endorsed the fitting of Evolution EMS™ to our vessels.
Oasis Marine Canada
We have completed the BNWAS commissioning onboard m/V DOMINA in Vancouver, the system was up and run in good order. It is our pleasure to work with Martek product.
I choose Martek’s world leading BNWAS Navgard for my vessels because their advice, service and support throughout the process exceeded my expectations.
We spent a lot of time investigating which BNWAS system we should install and we finally decided on Navgard. It covered everything we were looking for in a system. First of all it had all the type approvals in place that we needed in order to ensure all our fleet could install the same system and we weren't going to incur any additional costs from flag authorities. But by far the most important requirement for us was the ease of installation. The Martek sales representative explained to us how the installation process would be much simpler than other brands as the system is modular and cuts out the requirement for interfaces so the alarms go directly to the control panel. Commissioning and set up was very simple and the installation engineer guided us through the initial set up menu so we were ready to use the system straight away.
MOL Tankship Management (Europe) Ltd
We operate a fleet of ships of different classification societies and this always represents a problem for us when choosing new equipment. Because Navgard is approved by all major classification societies we could be sure that it would be accepted on all of our ships without having to worry about being charged additional approval costs from individual classification societies, which themselves could be more than the cost of other BNWAS systems on the market. All our dealings with Martek Marine throughout the process from negotiation to delivery of the equipment has been excellent, and when a problem did arise, it was dealt with promptly and efficiently. Their sales team were very professional in ensuring we got the correct configuration for our requirements
Campbell Shipping Company Ltd
We have had difficulties in arranging the calibration at various remote ports, as also with testing onboard with span gas for various different make detectors available onboard not to mention the various costs in getting these services. The ABC solution is a one stop shop which resolved all our difficulties above as well as offered huge savings avoiding multiple landing / freight / calibration costs etc

We chose the DRINKSAFE™ Max because it provided us with Martek’s guaranteed compliance with all flag state requirements and it gave the crew the benefit of the simplest and easiest test procedures on board. Furthermore, the on-board training procedure provides a test certificate which acknowledges that the crew has undergone the training and test that they are competent to use it. We were advised that each component of the kit took into account MLC 2006, ILO, WHO and IACS Member Societies to full satisfaction
We chose DRINKSAFE™ because it contained enough tests to daily water testing at multiple outlets as per WHO + ILO guidelines offering the lowest cost per test of all kits. DRINKSAFE™ was also easy to understand and the kit looks simplest and quickest to use.
