CLSICO and Martek Marine have enjoyed a good working relationship over many years. Their technical expertise and customer service has been exemplary, and we look forward to continuing to work with them
CLSICO (China LNG Shipping International Co).
As one of the largest owners and operators of Single Hold Cargo vessels in the world, Erwin Strahlmann are required to fit water ingress detection systems to the majority of our fleet of vessels, to comply with SOLAS Chapter XII, Regulation 12. After evaluating various offers we selected Martek Marine’s award winning Bulksafe™ system, which was chosen because it was simple to install and operate.
Martek has over 700 references from installations that are in operation today, and demonstrated that the Bulksafe™ system is the most reliable and durable water ingress detection system available.
Martek also offered a personalised installation and commissioning package that was very attractive to Erwin Strahlmann. Overall we felt that Martek were a truly world class company and ideal for Erwin Strahlmann to partner with for our fleet of vessels.
V-Ships selected the Bulksafe™ water ingress detection system from your good company Martek Marine Ltd, because it offered the simplest and most economic installed solution for compliance with the regulations.
We were delighted with Martek’s performance in managing the supply and installation contract on our vessel without any hitches. The equipment was delivered ahead of schedule to a tight deadline and the Martek Project Manager who attended the vessel in dry-dock delivered first class installation.
The systems are performing exactly as Martek claimed and will be installed across our Principals fleet.

At Wilson Ship Management, the safety of our crew is always given the highest priority. As part of this crew welfare commitment, we recognised the value of investing in the Lifeforce specialist marine defibrillator for our entire fleet of owned vessels.
Lifeforce’s Type Approval reassured us that, in the unfortunate event of an emergency life saving situation, it is guaranteed to perform. The simplicity and ease of use offered by Lifeforce was another key factor in our decision, along with the total support provided by Martek Marine, a dedicated marine company that understands the demands of our shipping operations.
Mr Thorbjørn Dalsøren, Maritime Personnel Manager
Wilson Ship Management AS
We chose the product originally for its ease of use, weight, available support and the main point was that they are marine type approved. As in most things marine we don’t usually get feedback from the fleet and in seafaring speak this is very positive, seafarers are known to complain about most things, so no comment at all is very good feedback on the product.
When using the dummy units for training, the attendees are always very impressed by the foolproof use.

Maestro Shipmanagement Ltd, based in Limassol, Cyprus, looks upon the provision of a defibrillator unit to each of the vessels within the fleet as sensible and pro-active good management that additionally provides the crew with a real means to make a difference.
Having completed a broad market investigation, it became clear that Martek Marine were able to provide a marine-approved unit at a reasonable cost, specifically tailored for the fairly unforgiving demands of the marine industry. This, combined with the evident simplicity of use, guided the decision which has not been regretted.

Höegh Fleet Services, undertook a thorough analysis of available technology in the market and concluded that Martek’s MariNOx™ was the most suitable system.
Per Borstad, Superintendent
Hoegh Fleet Services
Pioneer Ship Management chose MariNOx™ because we were interested in the fuel savings opportunities open to us from fitting the MariNOx™ system.
We undertook a trial in the North Sea where we used MariNOx™ to monitor the NOx emissions from the main engine on-board our crude oil tanker Atlantic Galaxy, which allowed us to tune the main engine to maximise its performance and reduce its fuel consumption.
Following the successful trial we expanded the system to also include NOx monitoring of the auxiliary engines, as an expression of our environmental commitment.
Mr A Ramamurty, General Manager
Pioneer Ship Management
Peter Dohle Schiffahrts and Martek Marine undertook a detailed programme of trials to establish the scope of fuel savings achievable on-board MV Copiapo through engine optimisation using the MariNOx® Engine Emission Monitor.
The equipment was installed, in-passage by the Martek service team with assistance of the ships engineers. The installation did not affect the vessels operation.
Various trials were carried out on the main engine (Wartsila 10RTA96-C) to measure NOx/CO2 and F.O consumption. The trials concluded that fuel savings in the range 0.6% - 2.1% were delivered. The main engine was monitored for Specific NOx emissions throughout the trials and was proven to be in compliance with the limits in the NOx Technical Code both before and after each trial.
Mr Kurt Brieger, Fleet Manager
Peter Dohle Schiffahrts
The MariNOx™ system was professionally installed in-passage aboard MT Crudestar without any detrimental effect on the operation of the vessel. The system comprised of the fully Type Approved MariNOx™ System including the gas sampling equipment, engine performance/ambient correction sensors and Approved NOx/CO2/SOx calculation software as required by the legislation.
The system proved accurate and reliable for NOx / CO2 monitoring in compliance with MARPOL Annex VI Regulation 13 and The NOx Technical Code. By monitoring NOx & CO2 emissions the engine was optimised to achieve audited fuel savings in the region of 2.45%. By fitting the MariNOx™ system, we are freed from the restrictions imposed by the onerous, disruptive and risky Parameter Check Survey compliance method leaving us free to source our engine spare parts in the open market at major cost saving to OEM parts.
The SOx monitoring feature provided reliable monitoring delivering accurate reporting of the sulphur emissions in line with Regulation 14(4).
MariNOx™ allows Metrostar to conform with Best Practice Environmental Policy. Due to the complete success of the trial we have endorsed the fitting of MariNOx™ to our vessels.

We have completed the BNWAS commissioning onboard m/V DOMINA in Vancouver, the system was up and run in good order. It is our pleasure to work with Martek product.
Oasis Marine Canada
I choose Martek’s world leading BNWAS Navgard for my vessels because their advice, service and support throughout the process exceeded my expectations.
We spent a lot of time investigating which BNWAS system we should install and we finally decided on Navgard.
It covered everything we were looking for in a system. First of all it had all the type approvals in place that we needed in order to ensure all our fleet could install the same system and we weren't going to incur any additional costs from flag authorities.
But by far the most important requirement for us was the ease of installation. The Martek sales representative explained to us how the installation process would be much simpler than other brands as the system is modular and cuts out the requirement for interfaces so the alarms go directly to the control panel.
Commissioning and set up was very simple and the installation engineer guided us through the initial set up menu so we were ready to use the system straight away.
James Doyle, Managing Director
We operate a fleet of ships of different classification societies and this always represents a problem for us when choosing new equipment. Because Navgard is approved by all major classification societies we could be sure that it would be accepted on all of our ships without having to worry about being charged additional approval costs from individual classification societies, which themselves could be more than the cost of other BNWAS systems on the market.
All our dealings with Martek Marine throughout the process from negotiation to delivery of the equipment has been excellent, and when a problem did arise, it was dealt with promptly and efficiently. Their sales team were very professional in ensuring we got the correct configuration for our requirements

We have had difficulties in arranging the calibration at various remote ports, as also with testing onboard with span gas for various different make detectors available onboard not to mention the various costs in getting these services. The ABC solution is a one stop shop which resolved all our difficulties above as well as offered huge savings avoiding multiple landing / freight / calibration costs etc
Murali K Kodi, Senior Ship Manager
Campbell Shipping Company Ltd
We chose the DRINKSAFE™ Max because it provided us with Martek’s guaranteed compliance with all flag state requirements and it gave the crew the benefit of the simplest and easiest test procedures on board. Furthermore, the on-board training procedure provides a test certificate which acknowledges that the crew has undergone the training and test that they are competent to use it.
We were advised that each component of the kit took into account MLC 2006, ILO, WHO and IACS Member Societies to full satisfaction
Bernard Schulte Shipmanagement
We chose DRINKSAFE™ because it contained enough tests to daily water testing at multiple outlets as per WHO + ILO guidelines offering the lowest cost per test of all kits. DRINKSAFE™ was also easy to understand and the kit looks simplest and quickest to use.
Since equipping our tankers with the ABC system, we have had positive feedback from various vetting inspectors. The main feedback is that calibrations can be demonstrated immediately on-board and that there is an audit trail of calibration certificates. The ability to test to consistent replicated standards without the chance of human error also provides higher levels of safety assurance.
Håkan Hasselberg, Nautical Superintendent
The Besiktas Group are proud to have selected Martek Marine and their DRINKSAFE™ product for the completion of potable water testing on board our fleet of vessels.
We are a Company with a strong reputation so our partner choice had to reflect this. Having compared various products in the market our final decision was influenced by Martek's ability to tailor a kit specifically to match our specific requirements.
We bought ABC complete portable gas detector solution from Martek Marine because they provided us with a combination of a great product with great service. The ability to calibrate our portable gas detectors on-board gives us a cost effective system that frees us from the burden of onshore testing.
Piyush Kumar, Technical Superintendent
Aegis Business Ltd
BBG decided to work with Martek Marine for the ABC Gas Detector equipment for a number of reasons. Firstly, we were impressed with the cost savings that could be achieved through simple on-board calibration.
Secondly, being able to calibrate, bump test and replace sensors on-board saves us a lot of administration time in sending equipment back to shore, the ABC system eliminates the need to send any equipment to shore. Finally, the simplicity of the system gives us confidence that the crew can very easily calibrate the units on-board with zero problems.

We chose Martek for our chart solution provider due to the speed and ease of chart updates and portfolio management. The number of licensing options meant we have complete flexibility if our vessel trading patterns change and the support received from the office staff was excellent and all chart requests are dealt with quickly.

We realised early on the benefits to be gleaned from digital navigation. With Martek's solution we have a robust piece of equipment designed for use in the harsh offshore environment and after careful consideration we found that Martek's iECDIS ticked all the boxes and was clearly the best solution for us.
We also we're pleased with the turnkey solution offered with the training, charts and after sales support. The whole process from selection to install was handled seamlessly by Martek and the support offered was outstanding. We know that if we pick up the phone we'll have an answer to whatever our query may be and it'll be dealt with quickly. We'd recommend Martek's iECDIS to anyone.

Tamar Ship Management has chosen to place on board of all vessels the Martek Lifeforce AED for two reasons:
Captain Bogdan COJOCARU
Tamar Ship Management
We undertook a thorough investigation of the global AED market before deciding on a model and partner to be equipped throughout the fleet. It was concluded that the LIFEFORCE AED from Martek Marine met all our criteria, with proven shipboard pedigree and type approval from DNV GL. As the leading ship management company in the industry, crew welfare is our highest priority, and as such we have mandated the requirement for AEDs on every ship to protect against sudden cardiac arrest.
We are pleased to have selected LIFEFORCE® Specialist Marine Type Approved Defibrillator (AED). Having regard to the fact that Every Minute Counts at Sea, we believe that the only effective treatment for Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is prompt defibrillation. Yet, defibrillation is only effective when it is administered within the first few minutes of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) episode in the middle of the sea.
Taking into consideration of Marine Type Approval, we have preferred LIFEFORCE® Specialist Marine Type Approved Defibrillator (AED) for our entire fleet and RoRo & Cruise Terminal located in Cesme/Izmir/Turkey.
