We have a fantastic team of people here at Martek Marine and we would like to introduce everyone to you. As part of our “Getting to know the Martek team” series, we want to introduce to you our next team member George Burrell.
George is one of our Internal Sales Executives in the UK office and we asked him a few questions to help you get to know him better…
I have been with Martek for nearly 2 years now, 1 year as an Aftersales Coordinator and now almost a year as an Internal Sales Executive.
I love that every day you are working with people from all 4 corners of the globe: being exposed to different cultures and experiences. I also love the family feeling here at Martek, we don’t just spend time at work together, we spend a lot of social time together, having fun and building friendships.
My current regions are spread across multiple time zones, so my days start differently every day. Some days I will come in around 6:30am and deal with clients in Asia, including Singapore and Malaysia. On the flip side I also deal with Canada and North America, so some days I will start a little later at around 9am meaning I can do some work later in the day in those areas. I truly am Mr Worldwide!
Typically, I aim to have some focused call time at the beginning of my day, then move onto tackling the monster that is my inbox around lunch time, before reverting back to focused call time in the afternoon!
My proudest moment at Martek has to be converting my first 6 figure deal, it was a very proud moment after a lot of hard work. In the coming few days however, I am going on board a British Navy vessel with an engineer to get first-hand experience of how our systems work! I’m beyond excited about this opportunity that Martek has given me.
I am an avid football fan, playing twice a week as well as also being a season ticket holder at Liverpool FC. My life on a weekend very much revolves around spending time with friends and family with a cold beer and watching a lot of football. Away from football, I’m training for the Tough Mudder assault course!
In all honesty, I’m known for being very loud and a bit of a class clown! There isn’t a day goes by that I’m not making a fool of myself in some manner. I like to try have a lot of fun and laugh a lot, even if it is at my expense!
I seem to be the Diet Coke supplier for our office! However, the last gift I gave was Danny’s leaving present ☹ I much prefer to receive gifts, but this doesn’t seem to happen often!
