28/03/2006 - Sea Japan A Must For Those With A ¥en For Fuel Savings
The last six months have been a very exciting time for Martek Marine in general and its MariNOx® system in particular.
MariNOx® is the only Flag and Class approved on-board NOx/SOx/CO2 & fuel saving system providing the simplest solution for compliance with MARPOL Annex VI, The NOx Technical Code and MEPC.103(49).
Martek are delighted to have the opportunity to present it’s MariNOx® system to the Japanese market at the Sea Japan Exhibition 2006 where they will be represented by Keith Watson, General Manager for the Asia-Pacific region and Sales Director Mike Pringle. The event organised by CMP Japan Co Ltd and Seatrade Communications Ltd will be held between 5th-7th April at Tokyo BIG SIGHT Exhibition Centre.
Martek will certainly have a powerful message for their audience following the publication of audited results from an independent extended vessel trial, which show a reduction in fuel consumption by up to 2.1% after deployment of their MariNOx® system. The trial was carried out on the 5,500 TEU container ship MV Copiapo, managed by Peter Dohle Schiffahrts of Germany and owned by CSAV of Chile.
It was further good news for the company who were already celebrating, having secured the world’s first onboard emissions monitoring contract for 4 LNG carriers built by DSME in South Korea with options for a further 8 vessels. This was followed by an order for 2 vessels plus 3 options by the world’s largest shipbuilder, Hyundai Heavy Industries and a further 6 orders were received for new LNG’s to be constructed by Samsung Shipyard.
In addition to MariNOx® a range of other systems in the Martek range will also be exhibited at Sea Japan:
Gas Detection Systems – Specialised LNG gas detection systems and general tanker systems for cargo pump room, ballast tank and accommodation for both new and existing vessels;
Bulk Carrier & General Cargo Vessel Water Ingress Detection - The market leading Bulksafe™ system offers a high quality, low maintenance water ingress detection solution which is trusted by more owners and operators around the world than any other system;
Bulk Carrier Dewatering Systems – SC179 is a forward space de-watering control system for bulk carriers in accordance with SOLAS XII Reg 13 & IACS UI SC179.
The exhibition could also prove to be a major opportunity for a Japanese based company as Martek have stated that one of their main objectives from the 3-day event is to actively seek a business partner to act as their exclusive agent in the country.
Martek Marine can be found at Sea Japan on stand G40, we hope to see you there.
