Murder Mystery

23/05/2008 - GOING FOR GOLD AT THE MARTEK OLYMPICS

In light of Martek’s continued commitment to fun and enjoyment at work, the crew recently took part in a day of sporting endeavours followed by an evening of mystery and foul play.

Last Friday saw the crew travel to the Hotel St.Pierre near Wakefield to take part in the first Martek Olympics followed by a murder mystery evening. The crew were split into three teams from across all departments and were tasked to compete in such classic events as the four-legged race, egg and spoon race, sack race and the pitch a tent challenge.

Marketing Director Steve Coulson lead the winning team, with Managing Director Paul Luen’s team finishing second and Head of Global Sales Duncan Gaskin’s team finishing third.

The teams then had time for a quick change into more fitting attire and proceeded on a night of gangster and dolls murder mystery. By all accounts there were some excellent efforts with the fancy dress, one of the ‘Dolls’ in particular left a lasting impression.

Terry MacDonald helped organise the event, she considered it to be really enjoyable. She said:

“It was a really good day and the murder mystery was very funny! I was particularly pleased that Steve Coulson was given the award for best floozy as his attempt to dress up as a “Doll” was hilarious! I think overall everyone had a terrific time and some of the photos from the night will be held at ransom for a while to come!”

Big thanks go to Terry and HR Manager Nicky Platts for organising the day. It is set to be a talking point around the office for the weeks ahead.
